Who We Are
Sojourn Heights is a non-denominational, elder-led church that was planted in 2010 through the Acts 29 Network. In our early days we met at Fitzgeralds, a now-demolished, historic performance venue in the heart of the Heights, until God opened the door for us to move into our own building in 2014, and we are grateful to have completed the purchase and renovation of the building next door (now our main building) in 2020. With a mission of joining in the work of God by seeking to reconcile our neighbors to God and one another, our ministry together is characterized by the five core values of family, simplicity, local ministry, compassion, and saturation.
Our Neighborhood Parishes
As a church, Sojourn Heights is organized into groups called neighborhood parishes, which we often refer to as the "backbone" of all that we do at Sojourn. Historically, the word "parish" has been used to refer to a geographic area with a minister. At Sojourn we believe the bible teaches that all Christians are called to be ministers of reconciliation. The reason we call them Neighborhood Parishes is they are groups of men and women seeking to minister to our neighborhood. The way we aim to do that is to simply live life together, love and serve one another, and love and serve our neighbors.
Our Family of Churches
Sojourn Heights Church is one local church within Sojourn Houston, which is a family of neighborhood churches seeking to share Jesus with our neighbors for the glory of God and the good of our city. Sojourn Houston churches are marked by shared beliefs, a shared mission and vision, shared values and a shared philosophy of ministry (the Neighborhood Parish).
